SPONSOR A CHILD FOR SCHOOL @ BALI HEARTS PROJECT
Although Indonesia has a state education system that allows all children to go to school, many families simply cannot afford the cost of uniforms, books, school supplies and transportation. Because of this, many children in Bali cannot complete their studies. Bali Hearts Project is a non-profit organisation that links adults or organisations that wish to help these families sponsor a child for school. They ensure that children in need have a full school uniform, books, stationary, funds to cover fees, and they even look after the children’s health and dental needs. You can visit their Facebook page to find out more about their work and how to sponsor a child.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS @ BALI PINK RIBBON FOUNDATION
The Bali Pink Ribbon Foundation aims to prevent Indonesian women from developing and dying from breast cancer and to improve the quality of life of those who have the disease. To do this they bring the important message of proactive self-examination, screening and early detection to all women in Bali. Information is relayed in Indonesian and English and there are monthly awareness seminars held in the BPRF centre. Donations are always welcome.
SAVING BALI’S ENDANGERED MASCOT @ THE BALI STARLING CONSERVATION PROJECT
Also known as Bali Myna, the Bali Starling became the official mascot of Bali in 1991. It is famous both for its beauty and the very real threat that it will become extinct. The Bali Starling Conservation Project was established in 1999 as the Begawan Foundation’s first initiative with the aim of saving this precious bird from extinction. Since 1999, the organisation has successfully bred numerous birds in captivity and has undertaken projects in Nusa Penida and Sibang where the birds can be bred, rehabilitated and released into the wild.
