W Intros A Fresh Produce Garden

W Bali – Seminyak Grows Fresh Produce At The New Chef’s Garden.

W Bali – Seminyak introduces the Chef’s Garden, growing and providing high quality, flavoursome produce. Located on the grounds of W Bali – Seminyak, the garden will service all dining and bar outlets, from Starfish Bloo to FIRE and Woobar.

The 326 square-metre garden will grow fresh fruits and vegetables (eggplant, heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomato, ghost pepper, habanero chili, zuchini, lettuces, mixed greens); microgreens (micro lemon basil, micro cilantro, micro onion, micro purple radish); herbs (Italian parsley, thyme, Coriander, Moringa, Kemangi) and edible flowers (nasturtium, pansy, calendula, red vein sorrel).

The purpose of the Chef’s Garden is to maximise sustainability and find better ways of growing and using food. At the garden, chillies will grow to create their own sambal selections; coriander will hero in the Peking Duck Rice Paper Rolls, fresh herbs will provide new flavours to key dishes and all lettuces served at FIRE restaurant will be grown at the Chef’s Garden.

At the bar, fresh mint will be picked daily for mojitos, thyme and rosemary for infused simple syrups, and basil for other speciality drinks.

Cher Beryl Adler, W Bali’s Director of Culinary commented “I am blissful to have this Garden in our backyard. It not only sustains our outlets but it teaches our cooks, chefs and guests where your food comes from and how to respect the ingredients. It shows us an understanding of how long it takes to grow a fruit or vegetable. It shows us how to take care of plants. Having our team here taking care of the garden teaches us all to respect the products before it goes on a plate, resulting in a tastier dish.”

Guests will have the opportunity to harvest the freshest products by participating in ‘Wanna be Chef’ at Starfish Bloo.
