Serving sumptuous modern-classical dishes with the freshest ingredients from their own garden, Gioja is located along the Penestanan Road in the heart of Ubud, surrounded by lush rice fields that truly capture the ambiance of Bali.
Some believe that the Italian word Gioja (pronounced “joy-a”), means “orgasmic.” To others, it means “emotional joy,” or “a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.” Whichever definition you choose, Gioja Italian Restaurant is an orgasmic, truly sensational experience, with an exceptionally mesmerizing atmosphere, paired with delicious flavors of homely Italian classics, impeccable service, and an exclusively curated wine collection.
Gioja Italian Restaurant’s Executive Chef Daniele Taddeo describes his creations as “contemporary cuisine,” as he incorporates more than 20 years of experience as a chef in the most renowned places in the world. Only using the finest ingredients available, Gioja farms its own vegetable garden and imports top quality elements from Italy, Japan, and Australia.
Guests are invited to experience the fine-dining menu offered for dinner, or to appreciate a more relaxed vibe for lunch with their a la carte menus, and with a backyard swimming pool and rice field view to enjoy. Gioja Italian Restaurant seats 70 guests, with a combination of indoor seating and al fresco dining amidst the scenic green landscape.
Daniele Restelli, the brainchild behind Gioja Italian Restaurant, credits his family heritage as his inspiration for opening a restaurant that offers “good quality food.” Daniele’s family hails from the Northern parts of Italy: Sardigna & Lombardia.

Open every day from 12.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m., Gioja Italian Restaurant offers an a la carte menu and 5-course set menus with vegetarian & vegan options, complete with an exclusively-selected wine collection. The menu features Italian specialties such as small bites, pasta, steaks, soups, and homemade desserts. Gioja Italian Restaurant is also available for private dinner parties, meetings and other special events.
