Sanur Village Festival is back in August, this year on the theme of ‘Dharmaning Gesing’, or in celebration of bamboo.
Bamboo has a deep and strong philosophical meaning in Bali, as it is one of the plants most commonly used by island inhabitants in their daily life, especially in religious ceremonies and traditional architecture, both leaf and stem.
The festival will run for five days from the 21st to the 25th of August at Matahari Beach, Sanur.
SVF is a community event founded by Sanur Development Foundation, which is a combination of several large-scale activities involving a food festival, creative economy exhibition, various contests and competitions, art and cultural attractions, music as well as various types of environmentally-friendly activities.
The first festival was held back in 2006 as a response to the slowing of tourism in the wake of the second Bali bomb.
