Take a dive into what a few of us know as THE back road into central Seminyak, and you’ll find some of the Yak’s best restaurants. Some of the venues that have brought this short cut to “Eat Street” status are Settimo Cielo, Si Jin and Sangsaka. Now, to add to these excellent eateries, Gloriam joins the ranks!
Gloriam is doing Mediterranean better than anyone else. They are also doing grilled meats and pizzas better than others! They are doing home-baked breads, great desserts and of course Spanish tapas, ‘de Tierra o de Mar’ (Land or Sea).
This lunch is definitely the best value “for taste, for money” doing the rounds in Seminyak, and in fact in greater Bali at present!
Lunch! Choose a selection of FOURTEEN tapas from a list of 32 mouthwatering choices for only Rp. 215,000++ per person (with a no take away condition!). Well, with us, there was nothing left to take away anyhow!!
Tapas de Tierra – The perennial favourites of Spanish Tortilla or Patatas Bravas. Jamón Serrano or cold cuts, the list is long, varied and delicious. On the meaty side – Pappardele Ossobuco, Steak Tartar, and Chicken Milanese; for the Vegetarians – Brocheta de Queso – cheese, Mushroom Risotto, Beetroot Salad, Cauliflower au Gratin, Sautéed Spinach, Sautéed Beans or Button Mushrooms, maybe Sautéed Asparagus or Fried Zucchini? A pretty okay choice range for those who are Vegan too!
From the ‘Mar’ or ‘Sea’? Ceviche or handmade Ñoquis de Papa – any fan of seafood would order this thrice! Fish Ravioli or Seafood Soup; Carpaccio of Octopus; Deep Fried Calamari; Prawn Cocktail or the house-special of Raw Tuna Fillet with sesame and wasabi.
Deliciously, these are all Tapas-sized, so the variety of flavours is incredible and the joy of eating so many different dishes in one sitting is just so ‘taste-bud’ satisfying!
The lunch special runs ONLY from 12pm to 3pm. And just to remind you, it is only Rp.215,000++ per person; outstanding value, and each tapa boasts a ‘true to cuisine’ taste.
The Gloriam Tapas menu, outside the above lunch special, is also available throughout the day and night! And they have an excellent wine list!
Another reason to head over to Gloriam? Their wood-fired grill of course! Only firing up at 5pm., expect excellent fish and seafood – prawns, barramundi, lobster, octopus or mackerel, and, of course meat!! Expect the following to be licked by flame as they are placed on the hand-smelted, custom-made “Floja” grill – Chicken, leg of lamb, chorizo, aged pork chops, aged strip-loin of beef, aged tomahawks and T-bones!
The seafood and shellfish come with sauces with flavours of harissa, sesame, lemon zest or pickled fennel, with the meats being accompanied by yoghurt garlic sauce, coriander leaf and matsaman sauce, apple relish, burnt smoke butter and rosemary and garlic, just to name some flavours that accompany each relevant grilled request!
Lastly, don’t forget the wood-fired pizzas: Margherita, Otrolana, Cotto e Funghi. Crudo e Asapragi, Pomodoro or Gloriam. And then the desserts! Personally, I think I’ll start back at the tapas menu, I am sure I missed a couple!!
