Lift-Off Film Festival Global Network selects Balancing the Waters to be part of their prestigious line up of true independent cinema at this years Amsterdam Lift-Off Film Festival 2019 – taking place at the indie powerhouse Lab 111.
Balancing the Waters is a Waterbom Bali documentary that focuses on Bali’s water issues and the challenges surrounding water conservation in our modern world. The film was selected out 2,000+ global entrants, screened at Amsterdam Lift-Off Film Festival on October 4, 2019.
At the event, all the films will be scored by the attending audience, where the winners are potentially screened at any of the ten proceeding Lift-Off global events, with the ultimate aim to give filmmakers the best exposure possible as they embark on their continued artistic journey within the film industry.
The story begins at Waterbom, a world-renowned water park on the island of Bali that recognizes how a business like its own can potentially have a devastating effect on the Balinese balance of water. After considering different solutions, the company delves into the ancient Subak irrigation system. Developed in the 9th century, the Subak water distribution system is used to this day, supporting Bali’s iconic rice field landscapes.
Balancing the Waters tells about the basic human obligation to achieve balance in our environment. By focusing on Bali’s plight, this documentary presents us with the current state of affairs regarding water in our modern world and what we can do to turn the potentially disastrous situation into a prosperous one.
Lift-Off currently has festivals in Berlin, Tokyo, New York, Toronto, Paris, Melbourne, Sydney, London, Manchester, Los Angeles and Amsterdam
