Yes, we all know it should be fish on Fridays especially with the upcoming Lent, so where better to follow the tradition than The Apurva Kempinski’s Reef Beach Club down Nusa Dua way?
The Reef Beach Club is just one of the dining options at this uber-luxurious, uber-swanky hotel – possibly our favourite on Bali. The Reef Club with its expansive, infinity pool (42metres), individual family cabanas, sun chairs and a divine, antique ‘Rumah Joglo Kudus’ – a highly-carved, antique, interior pavilion – welcomes outside guests to enjoy the vast resort. Daily BBQs, alongside Asian cuisine and an Indonesian-inspired culinary journey are offered from their open kitchen and charcoal grill area, as well as a myriad of cocktails and mocktails, handcrafted by the passionate brigade of mixologists.
And, on Fridays, they also roll out a bountiful beach grill. Their Friday Reef Grill’s smorgasbord of prawns, shellfish, lobster, fresh line-caught fish all beautifully barbecued with a selection of salads, salsas and sauces. One of our favorites is of course the Sambal Matah, a unique, spicy side-sauce of lemongrass, red chillis, shallots and coconut oil and lime juice. Mouthwatering.
