Imam’s World

Ubud’s Cata Odata gallery exhibits 72 artworks of Imam Sucahyo created between 2014-2017 and featuring programs such as preview, scene-toscene, film screening, and discussion as a series of events. Organized by Cata Odata and curated by Dwi S. Wibowo, the exhibition entitled ‘Jagat Mawut’ represents the brutal characteristics of Imam Sucahyo’s artworks that reveal the complex struggle of the lower-class society in different aspects – economic, spatial, and gender.

Many people find a resemblance between his work and the peculiar style of art brut which also known as raw or outsider art.

Nonetheless, Imam does not really bother about what or how people tend to interpret his works. This art exhibition will explore the questions and discourse surround this ‘ravaged world’ which explicitly presented by Imam Sucahyo through discussions.
