Don Melchor Vertical Wine Dinner @ Como Canggu

Join the Don Melchor vertical wine dinner with winemaker Isabel Mitarakis Guilisasti for a fabulous five course event featuring vintages from the iconic Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. June 23rd @ Como Canggu.

Como Canggu celebrates an icon in the Chilean wine industry on June 23rd with a five course dinner featuring vintages from Don Melchor.

Winemaker Isabel Mitarakis Guilisasti will be on hand to talk guests through six fine wines including the 1987 Don Melchor, the winery’s first vintage, the 1990 vintage and the 2014, which was included in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines.The new vintage, 2015, will also be included. Wine connoisseur Jancis Robinson rated the vintage at 18+, with James Suckling scoring it at 98 points. All wines will be paired to spectacular dishes.

Isabel Mitarakis Guilisasti  is an agronomist from the Universidad Católica de Chile, with specialization in oenology.

She began her professional career in the harvests of Concha y Toro in 2011, working in the winemaking process of the wines of Viña Maycas del Limarí, which come from the company’s vineyards in the Limarí valley, and in the Puente Alto cellar, participating in the
winemaking of the different lines of premium wines, working closely with the winemakers Marcelo Papa and Enrique Tirado.

Isabel also has experience in foreign harvests. In August 2011 she took part in the harvesting of Berlucchi, (Franciacorta, Italy), carrying out laboratory work, oenological analyses requested during the harvest, cellar work, monitoring and measurement of temperature and density. She also received training in Fetzer Vineyards (Mendocino valley, California, USA), involving herself in the winemaking process and working on site in the vineyards. In 2012 she took part in the harvest of Chateau Mouton Rothschild, (Bordeaux, France), joining a team responsible for winemaking processes and visiting the cellars in Medoc and St.
Emilion.

In Chile, during the 2012 harvest, she was an assistant to the work team of the Puente Alto cellar, offering direct technical assistance to the winemakers Sebastián Rodríguez and Marcelo Papa in treating the wines, testing, fermentation, blending and all the winemaking processes in casks for the lines Marqués de Casa Concha, Maycas del Limarí, Casillero del Diablo, Amelia and Trio.

She joined the Don Melchor team in January 2013.
