Name, age (if you want to tell us) and where were you born?
Bertha Pesik, just turned 34 few days ago and I was born in Jakarta.
When did you come to Bali?
3 years ago, on the 9th July 2018 to be exact.
Do you have family here? (We include your furry friends into this question).
My main family is not here, however I have got a few relatives, and some friends who became my family in Bali.
What brands have you worked for over the years?
W Bali – Seminyak.
Nineteenth of March 2020. When you first heard of the Bali “stay at home” / #dirumahaja regulation what went through your head?
Is this really happening? Finally, my career dream came true, and this…and a combination of bed, laptop and chips. :p
What was your company’s reaction to this regulation?
The hotel decided to temporarily close down for few months with lateral service from the staff (to maintain the hotel’s cleanliness), and we were also given the chance to work from home.
How much longer did you work for the company?
Surviving until June 2021 – now I’m between jobs J.
What backup measures did you start putting in place when the writing was on the wall? (Covid 19 regulations were extended).
My official hours were reduced because of sudden decrease in tourism, and knowing that I have to work less than the usual working days, I decided to look for opportunities outside of my day job at the hotel (anything to get more income!).
What was your mental state and how did you move forward into a more positive attitude?
Oh well, I’m Indonesian. We know how to rough it through tough times. Positivity can move mountains!
The days spent at home gave me the perfect time with no excuse to dig into what I had procrastinated over for ages: learn to cook for instance! 😉
Finally, what are you doing now?
It’s moving time! Starting a new chapter at Mandapa, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Ubud.
